About Us

Ballina Tennis Club has 4 all-weather carpeted, floodlit courts situated next to the Ballina Sports and Leisure Complex, with over 100 junior and adult members. We have an active club scene where there is always something going on with games of tennis to be had for beginners and experienced players alike. B. T. C. is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive venue for people of all ages and abilities to play the game of tennis, socialise and make friends. To this end we run many different activities such as fun leagues; kids camps; and our very successful Enjoy Tennis (bringing tennis to those with Special Needs) Coaching is always provided by our experienced players and at other times by the club coach. More experienced players are catered for in the Club Leagues; Connacht League and Irish Veterans’ Tournaments.


Club Leagues - Monday and Wednesdays are league nights where leagues run throughout the year, in both doubles and singles formats. Additionally we have a longstanding Ladies League running on Saturday mornings and more recently a Men’s Saturday morning league has started

Club Ladders - With both singles and doubles, men’s and ladies ladders there is something for everyone, updated each month and games arranged by individuals to suit, there is ample opportunity to be playing tennis whenever you wish

Newbie Thursday - This is our way of encouraging new members who wish to try tennis, whether you are a first timer or returning to the game after a few years off, Newbie Thursday is the night for you. Turn up at 7.30pm on Thursday (racquets available if needed) and a member of the club will be there and very happy to have a knock around

Interclub Competitions
- For those who wish to play tennis competitively we are involved in a number of interclub competitions, we currently have two mixed teams in the Connacht League which involves playing home and away matches with other clubs within the Connacht region.

Coaching - with a fully qualified Level 1 Coach with Tennis Ireland and a member of Tennis Coach Ireland.; with 6 years of experience at Park Tennis, schools, individual coaching in Dublin, Co. Kerry and Co. Mayo, and passion for sport for last 26 years. Artur is coaching in the Ballina Tennis Club, Castlebar Tennis Club and he is the coach for the club’s Schools Tennis Intiative Programme, which was developed by Tennis Ireland. Social Tennis - There is always something going on, be it Pub Quizzes, our ever popular Annual Dinner and prize giving night (leave the racquets at home), the annual St Patrick Days Parade, Ballina Heritage Day, various fundraising activities which are great craic but also raise funds for the club such as bouncathons, sponsored cycle rides and the annual bag packing. 


Club Night – Come along to our Club Night on Thursdays at 7.30pm - open to non-members (€5 fee). Just show up on the night and fun matches will be arranged.

Enjoy Tennis – Following its very successful introduction last year we will be running the Enjoy Tennis programme over the next 6 weeks. This programme is open to young adults with special needs and we have three dedicated coaches who help make this programme so enjoyable for all involved.

Fun Family Saturdays – This programme, due to start August 2017 is an open invitation to member and non-member families to come along to the courts between 3 and 4.30pm for a friendly knock around. All equipment provided.

Easter and Summer Coaching Camps - are held each year for juniors. Contact Arrtur 0857573457 for further details Parks tennis is a month long programme in July, providing an hours tennis each day (Monday to Friday) for juniors aged 6 to 12, players divided according to age and standard.
